Event The Ninth CIO Summit of the Financial Industry (Spring Session)
Technology development has dramatically revamped the operation models of the financial industry. Following the UK, Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong, Taiwan becomes the fifth country that has built up the supervisory sandbox system, which will be the cornerstone for financial innovation. The Financial Supervisory Commission, in the meantime, has included “Open Banking” as one of the administrative focus of 2019. Through Open Banking, banks are enabled to, by engaging a third-party service supplier, share the financial data through the API (Application Programming Interface). Financial information sharing allows consumers to regain the right of using the personal financial data. Open Banking has changed the principal-subordinate relationship in the past between the right of use and the right of ownership of financial. Whilst the introduction of open API has influenced the traditional model of banking operations and brought about more powerful and friendly financial services, it has also raised concerns about information security and personal information protection. The increasing awareness in these aspects in recent years also highlights the importance of Regulatory Technology (RegTech) and information security protection. RegTech helps enterprises to reduce the cost and risks in financial supervision, obtain optimized solutions effectively and systematically, and avoid regulatory violation in the process of financial innovation.

To actively promote the transformation of the financial industry, the NCCU Global Research and Industry Alliance (GLORIA) has, collaboratively with many CIOs and IT managers, organized the “Ninth CIO Summit of the Financial Industry (Spring Session)” on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Taipei Sheraton Hotel. Experts in the finance, information and technology-related areas are invited to share their views on Open Banking and RegTech. Discussions will be made on the development of and challenges faced by the Supervision Technology (SupTech) and information security technology, as well as the application and future trend of Open Banking. This will be an exciting event. We look forward to your participation, so we can, hand-in-hand, contributing to elevating the competitiveness of Taiwan’s financial industry.
