Ministry of Science Technology Pioneer Grants for AIC (Major Alliance projects) 2018 Achievements Presentation (Press Conference), Batting internationally, Leading Global Positioning with Six major Technologies, helping Industries Seize business Opportunities
On October 31, 2018 (Wednesday), the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) held a press conference on the achievements of Pioneer Grants for AIC (Major Alliance projects) in Hall 201 of the NTUH International Convention Center. At the conference, outstanding achievements in the academia-industry collaborations among National Taiwan University, National Tsing Hua University, National Chiao Tung University, National Cheng Kung University, TSMC, MediaTek, Chang Chun Group, Quanta Computer, Chunghwa Telecom, and China Steel were presented. The companies have been exhibited their excellent work to make people understand the projects.
The conference presents five core areas which includes six technology projects. To show the effectiveness of the project and the application highlights, the display area was divided into three parts, AI/5G, advanced smart technology applications, and green key technologies. 1. National Cheng Kung University X China Steel, 〝Next-Generation Steel and Green Manufacturing Process and Product Innovation and Application Academia-Industry Collaboration Project〞 The project resulted in the development of the EH47, 75mm thick ship plate. ABS, LR, DNV, and CR certified by the International Association of Classification Societies it is one of our qualified steel factories in the world; it will build and supply the 14,000 TEU super-large container vessels. At the same time, the extremely thin, 0.15mm, ultra-low iron loss electromagnetic steel, which is superior to the well-known products of the famous Japanese manufacturer (Nippon Steel), was successfully developed. 2. National Taiwan University X TSMC, 〝7-5nm Semiconductor Technology Node Research〞 The technology platform for the establishment of the ultimate (7-5 nm node and beyond) CMOS integrated circuit that can be implemented in the next decade will boost the process development of the next generation of Taiwan's semiconductor industry. 3. National Chiao Tung University X Quanta Computer, 〝3D Communication Network Technology and Its Smart Campus Application〞 The project motivated cooperating companies to lead the launch of the LWA (LTE-WLAN Aggregation) 4G+Wi-Fi network service globally, leading Taiwan into the Pre5G era. The project also established Asia's first fiber to the desktop Gigabit high-speed bandwidth smart campus, which is established as the Smart Innovation Center. 4. National Taiwan University X MediaTek, 〝Prospective Next Generation Mobile Communication Terminal Recording Technology Research〞 Between 2019 and 2020, a world leading company was created, which has the core technology of mobile communication computing chips. At the same time, the company presented the latest international standard technology for core computing and visual acceleration at the Khronos international standards conference, marking an important milestone for the company’s international status. 5. National Chiao Tung University X National Tsing Hua University X Chunghwa Telecom, 〝Wireless/Broadband Technology and Services Based on SDN and Cloud Architecture〞 They cooperated with internationally renowned ON.Lab to participate in the ONOS SDN-IP Peering project, which will be showcased at the internationally renowned ONS (Open Networking Summit) 2016 to increase international visibility. 6. National Tsing Hua University X Chang Chun Group, 〝New Generation Green Chemical Technology Based on Recycled Raw Materials〞 The collaboration focused on establishing green technologies from upstream raw materials to downstream products, developing and utilizing new generation recycled raw materials, and developing green process technologies to reduce steps in the production process, energy use, and environmental pollution. In addition to the curation of the three display area, the representatives of Pioneer Grants for AIC (Major Alliance projects), review committees, domestic manufacturers, and technology industry. Forward-looking technology and industry leaders, including the Vice President of Delta Electronics R.T. Tsai, E.SUN Financial Holding/Taiwan AI Academy Principal Sheng-Wei Chen, were invited to share via forums to improve the industry and the public's understanding of the forward-looking technology projects, and thus to lead Taiwan to a more advanced future. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Inside the achievements presentation conference hall ![]() |
