The world's largest consumer electronics show (CES) was held during the January 7–11, 2020, in Las Vegas, United States. FCU GLORIA Assists Startup team, PLASMA Inc., from Feng Chia University to exhibit at Taiwan Tech Arena (TTA) in CES 2020’s Eureka Park. They exhibited several black tech living products that were produced by “plasma technologies”, which is something of an oddity in the exhibition.

In CES 2020, PLASMA Inc. aims the market positioning of the value of plasma applications at the topic of wearable and flexible to exhibit a series of prototype products FlexHealth, FlexFresh, and FlexHeater.

FlexHealth is a product in cooperation with Green Power Biotech Co., Ltd., which gives flexible physiological sensing electrodes more physiological sensing functions, thus enabling the sensing functions of physiological sensing elements to achieve multiple functions that were previously impossible.

FlexFresh replaces the hardboard electrode of the electrostatic precipitator with a soft mesh electrode, which greatly improves the efficiency of collecting particles.

FlexHeater provides a soft heating element with higher electric heating efficiency and far-infrared emission function, which makes the electric heater more power-saving and wider in size and shape design.

PLASMA Inc. said that plasma technology is a little unfamiliar to most people because it is regularly build-in the manufacturing process of products. But the plasma application can be found everywhere mostly used in the key components of the commodity. It is the hero behind the high-tech industry that can be applied in the field of display, communications, medical, and so on. "Plasma technology is insensitive to most people in most cases. So, people will not notice the differences in these techniques." CEO of PLASMA Inc. said.

Prof. He, Dean of Office of Industry-Academia Cooperation of FCU, said that there are two economic benefits in advanced plasma coating: One is to make the product from scratch, and the other is to make the product change from good to better.

Prof. He, Dean of Office of Industry-Academia Cooperation of FCU, said “Our business partners from the industry have won a lot of domestic and foreign awards due to their key technology originate from the FCU Institute of Plasma.”

The result of this exhibition is the technology invested by FCU Institute of Plasma (IoP) and Textile and Materials Industry Research Center (TMIRC) to grow various functional film materials on the surface of soft materials and fabrics, thus creating many unique functional textiles. In addition, the Insititute of Plasma has been also immersed in related development work for the 5G industry which is vitally concerned at present.

With the encouragement from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) Global Research & Industry Alliance (MOST GLORIA), Institute of Plasma further signed a contract with the well-known German institutions - Fraunhofer IST, becoming an international joint laboratory, and often shared and exchanged the most advanced plasma coating technology with the alliance industry.

In this exhibition, FCU GLORIA leads the intramural startup teams to show the R&D strength and gain more opportunities for international cooperation and exchange.
Looking around Eureka Park, the global stage for startups, most of the exhibitor presented products or services are related to the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) devices or software. FCU’s Startup team brings plasma technology to the innovation showplace. They have been let visitors can better understand the “built-in” behind-the-scenes hero and see the diverse and powerful technical strength of Taiwan.
