Currently, certain parts of the globe, like the USA, South Korea, and China have adopted 5G communication. High data rate, reduced latency, and massive device connectivity – the three major characteristics of 5G communication will directly impact the healthcare system, manufacturing industry, transportation, and personal leisure. In terms of healthcare, telemedicine and the upgrade of medical resources for rural regions will be made possible. In manufacturing, production efficiency will increase significantly while the cost being reduced. In transportation, the Internet of Vehicles will be established to improve road safety. In entertainment and leisure, AR/VR images will greatly reduce latency with better optical flow. Nonetheless, there are still issues to be resolved, such as the high cost of 5G communication installations, lacking of killer application, and ambiguous business models – will be potential challenges during the popularization of 5G communications.

Participating representatives from the industry, government, academic, and research organizations as well as domestic and international companies include: Wayne Wang, Director General of the Hsinchu Science Park Bureau (also Section Chief and Division Chief); Dr. Jen-Inn Chyi, Vice President of the University System of Taiwan (UST); Chung-Ho Tai, Chairperson of PIDA and CEO of Jasper Display Corp.; Andy Chien, CTO of Cisco; Julian Chu, Industry Consultant and Director of the Institute for Information Industry; Dr. Rong-Syh Lin, President of Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories; Kuo-Sheng Wei, President of Witty Corporation; Zhi-Ting Ye, CTO of Harvatek; Jia-Fu Song, Special Assistant of Tyntek Corporation; Cheng-Kai Lu, Vice Director of FOCI Fiber Optic Communications; Hui-Rong You, Vice President of ASE Group; Yuan-Chao Wu, President of Shin Puu Technology Co., Ltd.; Yi-Deng Zhang, Vice President of Wei Han Technology; Xin-Tang Zhang, Vice President of Liverage Technology Inc; and others.
