Experts from the US, England and Germany sang CYCU praises.
 
   With the joint effort of GLORIA CYCU, R&D Center for Smart Manufacturing in CYCU, and R&D Center for Membrane Technology in CYCU, a series of forums and seminars given by the masters were a success as a warm-up activity for the grand opening of Innovation Pilot Center for Theory in Practice, CYCU.
    It’s a great honor for R&D Center for Smart Manufacturing in CYCU to have two internationally renowned masters at the forums and seminars, Dr. Chris Macosko from University of Minnesota (USA), and the Mr. Ken Crow, Technical Director from Cinpres (UK). Dr. Macosko is a member of National Academy of Engineering (NAE), also an author of Rheology: Principles, Measurements, and Applications, lectured “The Latest application of Graphene Material and Polymer Rheology”. Dr. Macosko gave the lecture rich and profound in a vivid way, which also received enthusiastic responses from the participants. The discussions and exchanges didn’t stop during the coffee break. Some even brought the textbook for autograph. Mr. Ken Crow has been in the CAE molding fields for over 40 years, also was in charge of advanced technology development of three multinational corporations. Besides, he once worked with R&D Center for Smart Manufacturing on technology develop project. This time Mr. Ken Crow shared a topic on the newest molding technology and CAE analysis which is applied on the famous car brand, Bentley. After the successful forums and seminars, both masters were taken a tour throughout the center. Dr. Macosko gave complements to Innovation Pilot Center for Theory in Practice for all the inputs, remarking that only few universites in America has this kind of investment on working platform, and gave some great advice.
    The R&D center for Membrane Technology, CYCU invited Sartorius Stedim Biotech GmbH expert of membrane to share the latest application of membrane technology on manufacturing process in biomedical pharmacy. Sartorius Stedim Biotech GmbH is a world-class and renowned company that plays the leading role in chemical and pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology industry, and medical diagnosis, and so on. The R&D center for Membrane Technology has cultivated in membrane technology for several years, and its achievement has earned recognition by Sartorius Stedim Biotech Company. On February 26th, the company visited Chung Yuan Christian University and discussed about an opportunity of industry-academia cooperation in the future. A speech was held in Innovation Pilot Center for Theory in Practice on the same day about “Biopharmaceutical Field”, a current hot-bottom topic of Taiwan’s biotechnology, to share a latest research and development achievement that is beneficial to enhance the safety of biomedical pharmacy, and assist domestic related industry to align with the international standards. The speaker, Dr. Louis Villain, is the R&D director of Sartorius Stedim Biotech GmbH. Dr. Louis Villain brought the audience of the speech into the professional field of biopharmaceutical manufacturing by an introduction of Sartorius Stedim Biotech GmbH’s department of biopharmaceutical manufacturing. Dr. Louis explicated the stages of biopharmaceutical manufacturing, and the application of membrane is commonly used recently as a world trend on filtration and purification, disinfection and sterilization, and to increase defect-free rate as well as general safety. Using membrane in biopharmaceutical manufacturing is quite different from traditional pharmaceutical manufacturing since using membrane can largely avoid uncontrollable factors (human, environment, system factors, and so on…) in continuous production and batch production, and enhance the safety to align with international standards. In addition, using new materials of membrane and structural design of membrane can also boost productions of certain biopharmaceuticals, and develop new forms of pharmaceuticals. In merely 90 minutes with continuous knowledge bomb, brainstorming and the question time after the speech, the speech was so wonderful that the audience gained profound insight. The speech’s audience included several experts in the related field from Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU), other universities, and entrepreneurs. The total number of audience is 30. The organizer appreciated the supports from different industries, and the R&D center for Membrane Technology in CYCU will keep cultivating in knowledge-based economy and industry-academia cooperation.
