  • "Dialogue between Technology Financing": NCKU GLORIA Promotes a Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration by Sharing Industry Experience
On December 20, 2018, the "Dialogue between Technology and Financing - A Forum with NCKU Alumni" was held at the Library B1 Conference Center of National Cheng Kung University, which was mainly sponsored by NCKU Research and Service Headquarter and co-organized by GLORIA NCKU. To begin with, TASCO Group Founder Wu and Fubon ETF Chairman Hu were invited to the forum to share with the audience their life stories. At the same time, AANCKU National Cheng Kung University Alumni Association President Wang was also invited as the host to interview the panelists who share with the audience some of their most valuable experiences on life career planning, personal intellectual enlightenment, individual horizon broadening, and new technological innovations, attracting over 200 young students to participate in this grand event with a scale that has never been seen before.

NCKU President Su also delivered an opening speech for the grand event, “NCKU Alumnus Wu and NCKU Alumnus Hu respectively mark the NCKU role models for the two very different generations: NCKU Alumnus Wu has contributed a lot to the industrial transformation in Taiwan over the past 50 years while NCKU Alumnus Hu has crossed over to the financial industry and obtain outstanding personal achievement after graduating from the Department of Transportation and Communication Management Science of NCKU. As we can see, the talents cultivated by NCKU are not only the top of the profession but also with unlimited potential for comprehensive development.”

As the Founder of TASCO Group, NCKU Alumnus Wu encouraged the young students by sharing his own study experiences, "Stop imposing restrictions on yourself! Expand your social network and broaden your personal horizon to compete with the rest of the world." Under the influence of Politician Chiang Ching-kuo and Economist Li, Kwoh-ting, Alumnus Wu returned to Taiwan. By advising Politician Chiang Ching-kuo to remove lead from gasoline, the "lead-free gasoline" has become a solid foundation on which his business began to thrive and prosper. For this, Alumnus Wu expressed that, "starting up a business is not only for seeking profit but also contribute your share to the society as a whole".

Also known as the "investment tycoon" due to his accurate investment prediction and outstanding business achievement, Fubon ETF Chairman Hu was graduated from the Department of Transportation and Communication Management Science of NCKU. NCKU Alumnus Hu pointed out that corporate culture always plays the key role in business management and the school ethos of "Rustic and Down-to-Earth" that NCKU was very proud of is the main reason why NCKU keeps ranking on the top of the list when it comes to graduate employability survey carried out each year. Although NCKU is located in the remote area of southern Taiwan, he expected the students not to impose restrictions on themselves due to the geological barrier but to actively marketing themselves with better self-confidences.

By co-organizing the forum this time, GLORIA NCKU invited the two outstanding NCKU Alumni to share with the young students their life stories, not only encouraging the NCKU students to make good use of the NCKU ethos "rustic and down-to-earth" but also expand their social networks and broaden their career prospects to compete with the rest of the world. Through the work experience shared by the two outstanding alumni from different fields of profession, more cross-disciplinary learning opportunities will be opened to the NCKU talents to bring their unlimited potential into full play.
