        In order to conform to the trend of connecting to all things in the Internet of Things, and to welcome the new era of the smart city, Cheng Kung University and Qisda Technology signed the "Smart Campus Memorandum of Understanding". Both sides unified their strengths and capabilities and used the Internet, cloud services, big data analysis and other technology to integrate technology, education, research, as well as fundamental life facility management resources and information, thereby creating a future smart campus.
          The signing ceremony was held by Cheng Kung University’s Global Research and Industry Alliance. Cheng Kung’s President Hui-Zhen Su and Qisda Technology’s Chairman Qi-Hong Chen each represented their respective side for the signing. Cheng Kung’s Dean of R&D development Sun-Yuan Xie, Dean of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Wei-Zhou Zhang, Dean of Planning and Design Tai-Sheng Zheng, Global Research and Industry Alliance’s Chief Operating Officer Wei-Ren Hong, Qisda Corporation’s Smart Enterprise General Manager Chang-Hong Li, and BenQ Business Solutions General Manager Wen-Xing Zeng all attended the event.
          Cheng Kung’s President Hui-Zhen Su expressed that university possesses abundant functional experiment platforms. It is extremely suited to cooperate as a smart city's micro-experimental area base. Cheng Kung wants to change society, change the future, imagine the future society, new modes of living and industry opportunities. Smart campuses and smart cities are the trend in present development. Cheng Kung not only will embody a smart campus, but it will also further become an innovative base for smart cities. It will not only become Tainan's innovation and technology provider, but it will also further be the medium for connecting Tainan to the international world.
          In Qisda’s Qi-Hong Chen’s introductory remarks he explained that in implementing a future smart university’s key components, you first must create a smart campus mind, and then implement a smart university. Qisda set out with hardware and software, and through an AI internet of things constructed a campus exclusive resource and information integrated platform center. Then, multi-oriented information flows were compiled via a neural network, causing individual blocks of information to be able to integrate, cross boundaries, innovate and activate. They anticipate that the smart university city experiment will adequate to expand to the city of Tainan, thereby creating a smart city and an abundant future life. 
         Cheng Kung’s Smart University City’s blueprint for its vision hopes that Cheng Kun’s borderless campus will begin with its inner area, gradually expanding to the edges of campus. In implementing a smart campus, it will bring residents from the edges to collectively create an ecological smart life experience. Qisda will help Cheng Kung enter the AI internet of things. The information integrated platform center will connect to resources and systems both on and off campus (such as energy conservation facilities, environment surveillance, course set-up, personnel safety, teacher/student health, periphery businesses, and near-by residents). It will also cooperate with industry, help campus innovate and research collecting large amounts of information and analyze data, and establish a collectively created ecological system and the appearance of an abundant future life. For these reasons, the smart university city is a micro demonstration arena for a smart city.
